It was last Saturday that I was reading the newspaper, sipping my coffee when my phone buzzed, it was a message on Facebook. Well, I thought who could be awake so early in the morning to message me. To my surprise it was Parveen Sir, apne English Communication Skills waale Parveen Sir. Had been in touch with him for quite sometime - on and off though.
The message was short and sweet, it read "I'm leaving Amity in December, resigned..." and for few seconds I didn't know how to respond, what to say, had no words. To that he added "tum log binaa maza nahi aa raha hai yaar.." From the past few interactions we have had, I knew it was no more a teacher-student relationship, we had turned friends (at least that's what I feel) so I responded as any friend would do, "Toh ab kis or ?" to which he told, "Apni Taraf..."
And then came all the memories of him taking our communication skills lecture in first sem in E3-216 (if I remember correctly) and the then CR being late to class gave a reason ki "Metro ke aage Kutta aagaya..." and this became the tagline, something with which we associated our CR and the class in general too.
Initial days were boring, specially when Parveen sir become strict, and made us read aloud stories and what not. Plus those surprise tests to write a letter to editor or probably an essay and none of us remembered the format of writing a letter :P Ah good ol days...
One good thing that happened to CS4 was probably that he was our Communication Skills professor for almost the entire tenure of 4 years (maybe a semester we had someone else) but we had seen his style of teaching change a lot over the years, from writing letters to editors to having mock interviews in the final semester to making videos and uploading on youtube as a part of assignments were pretty good. I know not many were fond of it but I did enjoy it :P
Lastly, this blog. This was also a part of one of our semester, you would have realized that based on the frequency the posts are made here. I was made the blog administrator then and trusted with the work of creating and managing the authors on the blog. So, that time we had frequent articles posted weekly, the final summaries and videos too. I'm glad that I myself took inspiration from this and started writing blogging from the same day when I created this blog - currently writing at socialmaharaj.com, and that has seriously helped a lot.
So I had mentioned to Parveen Sir, that I will write a small post on the class blog to thank him for all that he had done for us, and I just remembered that when I was talking to Neil today. So thanks to him too ;) But Parveen Sir has been instrumental for making us what we are today. For all those elocution sessions, the mock interviews and obviously the debates, those have surely improved everyone's skills and will surely help all of us.
I wish we were there to give you a great farewell, but unfortunately that couldn't happen :( It was great meeting a person like you and will definitely be connected in future.
Thanking you, on behalf of the entire CS4 family,
Atulmaharaj
