4 YEARS IN AMITY

4 years in Amity

A journey it was and a journey it is. My life started as a toddler where i was blessed by all my loved ones, went to school for all the lovely days and times that imparted me priceless knowledge. And then came college, the 4 years i will always cherish, the 4 years that made me what i am not to forget what i will be. This day is indeed a very proud and happy moment for me today but the sadness and pain of being parted from this amazing life, amazing institution makes my heart bleed.

My first days in college were the ones where i kept myself aloof from all the lucrative people and happenings in the classroom. Alone i swept through the corridors with a fear of being unknown, with a fear of being alone in the massive crowd of aspiring minds. But then came the day when i met and made history, I made my friends. Initially they seemed to a bunch of Delhi kids living the college life as they wanted, but later we created the most memorable and the unexplainable crazy moments of our lives. Till day i feel as if these 4 years flew away like the sands of time. The teachers, my mentors, my guides, my light of the future cannot be left out in these heartfelt words. All the knowledge they have imparted in the best possible ways, bearing our super irritating and mind boggling questions and funny tricks,  is priceless. There aren’t enough words in my dictionary that can describe the gratitude and respect that i would like to bestow upon them.

The final months on amity, the so called final years of amity taught me a lot about my life. Being the times when i had to get my work done by telling all minds of stories to the teachers, or getting grades by the clear way of working hard. The final days taught me the value of VALUES that exist in our lives. The time when i was haunted by the fear of getting a zero in my JAVA internals and tried to show my friend’s assignment but which turned out to be a big mistake. It was sheer apology and an assignment done by my own hands that ultimately fetched me marks. Surprisingly i never forgot a word from that assignment and worked wonders for the major examination.

This speech may never see its end, my experiences will always fall short of words and time will always knock on the my doors reminding me of my constraints. But the time has come where i have to bid farewell to this awesome phase of my life. This milestone of the journey has given me experiences that are unforgettable. I look down upon you all to see smiles and tears on faces altogether. My feelings are inexpressible, but my words may have given a look of the storm inside my heart.  A big salute to all the ones like me who travelled this journey along with me, a big thanks to all the ones who supported me endlessly and a big hug to everyone here. We still have a long way to go ahead. A journey it was, A journey it is.

SOCIAL MEDIA: BOON OR BANE?

SOCIAL MEDIA: BOON OR BANE?
We all are acquainted with the fact that life is all about competition and survival of the fittest. Then how does anybody find time to socialize? Of course, people get together and enjoy themselves. But even that becomes rare. Solution- A secure social networking website that offers you to sit back, relax in front of computer screens and socialize. You stay connected with every stage of relationship in your life- family, colleagues, close and the distant ones.
In today’s generation, human values and its importance is gradually on a decline. Nobody in particular can be blamed. However, social networking sites play a key role in some way. People spend hours on a laptop busy chatting but can’t afford to spend a few minutes with elders at home. Children play games and upload photographs, commenting and liking them, but don’t wish to conduct themselves properly and learn the spirits of honesty. Nobody today can come and tell a person to stop surfing a social networking website. But exploring other options of socializing are more beneficial.  Let’s take an example. You meet your family’s elders and spend time with them. Or you probably take out time for lunch get together with your relatives once in a while. Not only do you benefit from socializing and strengthening bonds, but you also pick up on values of being considerate, cooperative and positive towards the ones you care.
Time waits for none. Every species on this planet shares an equal amount of day and night. However, how you socialize and schedule your day depend on you. If social networking sites are a reason for decline in human values, let’s join hands and strengthen bonds by stepping outside. True human values always help a person in his pursuit of success and strengthening social circle. And thinking different and better for humanity in general has no match. After all, life is all about setting the priorities right.

4 unforgettable years in Amity

A very Good morning to our esteemed Founder president Mr. Ashok Chauhan, vice chancellor Mrs. Balvinder Shukla , all HODs , faculties and my fellow friends. I Harshveer Singh perusing my graduation in Computer science and Engineering stand before you to discuss my 4 years of life in Amity University.
The time has come to bid everyone goodbyes where one of the most amazing and joyful ride of my life is coming to an end. I still remember the first day when I entered the college. My dad settled me in the hostel and I was not exactly nervous but rather I was excited for a new life where I would be managing everything on my own. Entering amity first thing I noticed was this huge sports field and the H block where it was like a food court in a mall. Everything was present there like milk store, fruit store and departmental store as if like it was a home away from home. Then was the first day of class when I don't know anyone but I know that these are the people with whom I have to spend the rest of my 4 years so I thought will I be able to make friends? . But soon I got the answer and I made so many friends out of which some became my good friends and some very close. One of the most important thing I would miss about my college life is the time spent with friends. First year I was new to college life and everything. It took some amount of time for me to get to know how things work in college and what is the place to go for different kind of work. First year we used to have all classes and that to till the end of day so it was kind of frustrating but then all my tiredness went away after I played soccer and spent time with my friends.

Each semester was new. Subjects were new so were the faculties but one thing remained permanent and that is my friends and amazing time spent with them. I’ll miss the 5 minutes break talks between every class and the joy when a teacher is absent and there after some random plan to go out. Semester kept on passing by but our habit of missing classes, not giving tests and copying assignments never changed or improved. We all are still the same. Sometime your get good marks sometime bad but the joy after results are declared is another fun part which I would miss after college.
Sanghatan and Amity youth fest are the two biggest events in Amity when you can either participate or work for the success of the event. I tried for Sanghatan but due to my knee injury never got chance to play in the tournament.
In my case each semester improved me as I became a better person. I got to learn new things, tried new things and face different kind of challenges many times. Every time the assignments, class tests, exams and projects made me a stronger person mentally and physically and a person who can face any kind of challenge or pressure at any point of life.

Now I am at last semester of college life and it seems like it was yesterday that I just entered college. Last semester is very emotional as the number of classes is less and everybody is busy with internships or placements so one spend less amount of time with your friends. After coming in the last semester there is a huge difference in me as compare to the first semester. I can bunk college anytime I want, I can give exams without studying and I have stopped caring about attendance but these are bad differences. The good one are I am a better person, I can face any challenge anytime ,I can work under stress and finally ready to face the corporate workd. At this point of time I got to know almost everyone around me even my teachers. It is hard to think or imagine that my college is about to be over and there will be no more of college fun with friends but I am happy for all my friends who are placed and are going to start a new chapter in their life. But the college memories will always remain in my heart and my friends will always remain with me.

Life at Amity- by Suveshi Sharma

Life at Amity

By Suveshi Sharma
It was not long ago when we were teenagers high on emotion, just out of the school, that was the time when it seemed there’s a lot to accomplish but the way to get there was hazy, not so clear and for most of us was full of confusion! Even though we had chosen fields and disciplines of our choice, but the doubt whether or not it’s correct filled our brains. At that time, there came our guardian, it clearly promised us to nurture our talent, discover it, polish it, and create wonders out of it and it would not be wrong to say that our guardian, our Alma mater “Amity University” did stand by all of these!
Today my friends as we gather in here to take a look back at the four memorable years of our graduation which is round the corner, soon to be one of the most precious moments of our life does make us nostalgic and proud both at the same moment. Life at Amity dates back to the July of 2010 when we all were strangers looking for friends, opportunities to showcase our capabilities, loads of fun, and to add a meaning to our professional and personal lives both. New to this institute, the weeklong Orientation program brought us to face with our batch mates, our faculty and the not so likeable grading system. The best part of the entire program was the Ice Breaking Session which was all about having fun with our batch mates.

Last four years have been full of ups and downs, but one thing that everyone of us is going to agree with is that we have learnt that any hurdle, no matter how big it is can be won over by the right sportsman spirit, don’t worry people I am not deviating from the topic, so we all know how true it is that Amity has made us capable of generating great results even if we are assigned tasks at a moment’s notice!  Turning back to the fun filled hysterical times with our batch mates on occasions like Fresher Parties, Military Camp, hostel life, going out for movies, at conferences, just whiling away time in the class, asking the faculty to cancel the class, making fun of each other, hanging out at the H block, last minute group studies, deciding what to dress in at the never ending season of parties , being a  freelance therapist for our friends giving them career advice, dating advice even though hardly any of us knows what’s right or what’s not, all of these are going to stay with us throughout our lives, for life at Amity has truly been splendid, fast, always on the go, something that’s right now making us wish that we could stay back for some more time but for the right reason. But now that we take a step ahead, let us all promise that we will always be an Amitian in our hearts!

AN EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCE OF MY COLLEGE LIFE

As soon as we turn 18, we are filled with aspirations, fear, excitement and the adrenaline rush to be a part of college life and make it memorable for a lifetime. Mine was no different. I have used this platform to make a few but best of friends, gather the courage to present myself, be an extrovert and use the knowledge in real life applications.
July 2010 performed a 360 degree turn in my life. The environment was no more protective, I had to take care of myself for the most little of issues. College was unlike school where classmates usually were of the same thinking level as I was of. Here, everyone was different in terms of the places they came from, the lifestyles they led and of course their perspective of judging matters. Adjustment thus became a must. From the first day at college, we were put through ice-breaking sessions that helped us interact with one another; bridge courses that made us revise the subjects we were already familiar with and assignments that judged our skills in Computers.
I am a part of dual degree which definitely led to additional subjects of MBA along with the usual ones we studied each semester. Initially, this was a little exhausting as we worked six days a week instead of five, but slowly I realized my potential in the subjects that were taught and it was no more a routine for us. With studies, results tagged along which definitely improved in my case as I realized the importance of a good score.
Friends and fun have made these past years thrilling than everbefore. It’s been a ride of a roller coaster with incredible people like RaghavShashankShubham and Archit who made sure that I didn’t feel left out in the worst of situations. Yes, I have watched back to back movies. Yes, I have feasted on food. Yes, I have screamed my lungs out while I danced and sang along with everyone else. But only because I had to make sure that these years left me with some of the greatest memories, forever friends and best of all worlds so that whenever I looked back, I would not stop smiling.
Adios!

When four years are like a few days

Respected faculties and my fellow classmates, a very good morning to you. Standing before you is a rush of mixed emotions. With the feeling of disbelief that this day finally arrived along with the happiness of being able to use Er. before my name, this day has it all. Four years of this journey have been life changing for me. In the thread of my life, I added some wonderful beads of memories in these years. May 2010, around this very time I entered the college for the interview. As I remember asking the college students at that time regarding the eating joints available to us, I realise how far I have come.

First semester was a total turmoil for me. From being totally dependent on the parents for every single need I was all by my self here. It was like being thrown from a swimming pool to an ocean. I learnt a very important lesson at that time, making friends is easy but retaining them is tough. In other words one can say that not everyone you think is your friend. Moreover, to my fellow mates who find humour by making fun and getting themselves mocked in a healthy manner, DO NOT attempt it elsewhere. I found it the hard way. Back in my home town, everyone laughed at the jokes that used them as a base punchline and you were expected to do the same when you are the victim of the humour. The culture difference was way more than my expectation here. Instead of laughing, people here stored all those jokes deep in their memory and planned an appropriate revenge thereafter. In a different story altogether, I'd like to mention that EVS class in which Nidhi Gaubha Madam made me CR of the class accidentally. Now, to all those who think CRs enjoyed a special position, you, my friends cannot be more wrong. All that CRship does is increases the expectations of the teachers from you. With the love hate relationships began this wonderful journey of four years.

Second semester was a total shocker for me. Some computer languages were introduced as subjects and most of the class had already done it in their matriculation. Unfortunately, teachers were also aware of this fact. All I could do is sit in the class dreaming of what if I could stab the teacher. Second sem was also unique in the way that I became a hosteller around that time. Whining over love life of some friends was a daily routine. Somehow I managed to pass that semester too. Yes, I am still proud I cleared something called Data Structures, Deutche and what not.

Second year was altogether different. Things started getting smoother, I was settling down. After spending some 6k bucks in learning C++, I kind of enjoyed classes by then. One important lesson I learnt in that year was, people who know how to make their way around can achieve much more than the ones who work hard. Or at least that is what people believe. Being the CR, I had to visit PL pretty often. That combined with the fact that I was lucky (Nothing else), people thought that I manipulated my teachers for marks, complained against them. I don't care if anyone believes this or not, I did NOT gossip about my fellow classmates with the teachers. After all these years, I find it amusing to even think about it. I also found the actual friends at this time. Some people I will always be in touch with no matter what. Some, who affected my life, changed me for good and a little bad too.

As I mention the THIRD year, I am sure some of my classmates will have a huge grin on their faces. Third year was something in which I became all together a new boy. With the zeal of exploration of different dimensions of this world I began that year. Undoubtedly, that was the second best time of my life. First was the upcoming semester. It was like having everything that I ever wanted with me. From the point where I was afraid to leave my PG room after 10, I came to a place where I went to the railway station for practically nothing around 1 in the night with one of my friend. It was the time when subjects were no more known to anyone in my group. We now knew how to pass every exam no matter what. For all those who think Engineering is a big gun and is very difficult, I would say, give it a shot. In no time you'll be done with the four years. I made up a theory in third year that I followed by heart. --I won't remember Java, DBMS, OS after some 30 years, but I'll remember that I once told my teacher that I was late in the class because, "Metro ke aage kutta aagya tha"-- So, its all about gathering as many memories as you can in these four years because no matter where you will be after this, these years are never gonna come back.

Fourth year of my college life was the most free time possible here. Only 2 subjects to study and that also with unlimited options of ODs. I still remember that in 8th semester while chit chatting in the class one of my friends said, "its only 1 month till the college is working". That moment was a real eye opener for me. I realised that no matter how much one curses his/her college life, no matter how much they claim they hate it, these golden years just went by.

Without taking any more time and making it difficult for both of us, I'd like to take a leave with a final note. To all the friends I made here, I love you guys. To all the enemies I made here, I love you guys too. For you hadn't been there, I would have never known myself.

Article 1 : MATHS IN HUMAN HEART

Maths is not only around us but with us . Its an inseparable part of our live . want to know how  :

Interesting facts

§  Average adult heart beats 72 times a minute , 100000 times a day, 3600000 times a year an 2.5 million times during a life time.

When we do vigorous exercise heart rate can increase dramatically which in turn can result in an increase in blood flow.

Article 2 :  Thank you mat kaho……

…… instead , teen logo ki madad karo ….. Remember Salman’s famous dialogue from Jai Ho ??

Some people actually follow this philosophy

A cuppa can bring smile

‘affe sospeso’ or suspended coffee from Naples gives brand new dimension .to coffee. Its wonderful tradition where a customer at a cafĂ© paya for 2 or more cups of coffee oe even food – on for himself and the others for some unfortunates.

The Baristas would manage regular log & serve a cup of suspended coffee for free to anyone who would ask ,” Is there anything suspended?”

time to bid goodbye

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen! Respected chancellor maam, director  sir and all the other professors, and my dear friends. I am standing here to talk about what defines Amity.
From the very first day, when I had enetred college as a fresher with no idea about the new world that awaited me, Amity had shown me that my decision of being a part of the amity family was a  good one . While I was aware of Amity's magnificance since i did my schooling from there ,i was yet to see all Amity had to offer .

Amity gives you the platform for you to invent and reinvent yourself everyday from the ample opputrunities and platform it provides its students ,to the warmth and nurture given by it .

The one thing il take back from this institution is will  be the point about believing in oneself and trusting your dreams ,because if you believe in yourself then no obstacle can stop you from achieving those dreams.

2 months from now im going to miss all this ,giving farewell speeches ,seeing teary eyed classmates infront of me, proud faculty and this moment .As i stand here one last final time, all im going to say are two words . Thank You !

The Happy Circus

The story written by Aksh Gupta, a student of class 8, is based on a poor little boy Ramu who survived by earning little money by showing tricks and acrobats on the streets. One day he got an opportunity to join ‘Happy Circus’ which wanted acrobats to show their talent. As he was on his way, instead of travelling on the road, the van shot up above the clouds and entered into a tent with strange creatures. He was scared to be amongst those creatures but he continued his work. Years later, Ramu saw a dwarf in the circus. He questioned about him and he came to know that the circus is God’s organisation to help needy children and animals on the street. Aksh tried to portray his belief in God through this short story. He believes that God has something in store for everyone.

God’s Creativity

It is a poem written by Paluk Gupta of class 6. The poet questions God about the secrets of the earth that how did God make the earth so beautiful and how did God think about everything present on it. The student deeply understands and appreciates the beauty of nature and colours on earth.

The Global Times

It is a poem written by Vanya and Paluk of class 4. They both try to elaborate about the newspaper ‘The Global Times’. They both feel that it is the best newspaper of all time because they can relate to all that is written in it.

Banana Cake

Pranjal Jain also known as the ‘Little Chef’ gives a recipe of a banana cake. Everyone who loves to cook and eat must definitely check out the recipe.
